Moved at the pelican today. Much better than last week ,as I met the guy in our new room on a fluke the night before. He let on he was flying out ,and would be vacating early. We were done almost 2 hours faster than last week. I’d still find a place to stay the whole time next time I stay here.
The new room is spotless, in Bougainvillea and has a killer view of both the planes coming in all the way over in Maho, and of the Ocean.
We then went shopping at the Marigot outdoor market, which takes place every Wednesday and Saturday.
Party in Marigot
Frankly, if you have seen the town square in Philipsburg, you have seen what you need to see. The prices are better there. I actually did not buy a thing.
We did however see the Coconut man. He rocked. I drank Cane Juice, pressed in a caner from pure Cane Sugar stalks. The kids liked watching that. I had done that as a kids in Key West, and it brought back fond memories.
Coconuts and Sugar Cane
The kids drank a coconut shake, made from fresh coconut milk. He pointed out the Anguilla Ferry system, ad gave me some insight into going there Monday.
We were able to find easy parking after waiting less than 30 seconds in front of the West Indies mall area. Parking on this island is nowhere near as hard as many had me imagining. If you live in any big city, it’s harder there. Haha. West Indies Mall is a nice design, and I took a couple of pictures of it, but it’s just a regular mall, so I’d not burn any vacation time in it.
West Indies, Marigot
Ordered some killer Panini’s (French roasted sandwiches, pressed in a George Forman style grill, till they look like burritos) at a roadside grill near the Marigot harbor.
Chillin' at the Panini Bar
We skipped climbing the Fort St Louis, Saw Baie De Potence in Marigot. Nice but did not swim. Current are supposed to be bad here.
Went to Friar’s Bay and started to Happy Bay, but gave up and headed to orient, as Friar’s Stinks! I mean, it stinks! Like poo poo (Can I use that term here?)..
Spent a long day at Orient, and Jon took a walk down to Club O.
Jon on Orient Beach
Yes, I did, Yes It was the second time, Yes I Liked it, No I am not answering more questions. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, skip that and read on.
Beaker, our Travel Gnome, Nake on Orient Beach
Went home by way of Oyster pond, and saw some excellent Wind Gliders (Think giant kite dragging a snowboard with less clothing) on Corilita Beach area. Stopped for a moment, but light was waning.
Got home and made some home made Mac and Cheese, French style. 4 kinds of cheeses, and a box of Kraft. It was excellent, and I highly recommend Kraft plus $10.00 or so of assorted French cheeses.. Oh yeah, the last of a bottle of rum the previous tenant gave us, as they could not fit it in their suitcase as they left this morning.
Cheers.. Bracing myself, as I am dropping my wife and my Platinum card in Philipsburg for Jewelry shopping, and taking the kids to the beach.
Mental note, call Credit Card Company and lower that $100K Credit Limit fast! Or Get to casino tonight…
